Fast, light and stiff were our requirements when we designed the Storm TT. From the high modulus 12K carbon weave to the "strength where you need it" concept, we used every technological advantage to create the fastest, lightest and stiffest TT frame available.

This team plus the development of high modulus carbon in 12k weave enabled us to bring you the Storm TT.|
|The fork on the Storm TT frame set is a full carbon, aerodynamic design enhanced for strength. We make the strongest and lightest weight high performance forks. Our forks are made of high modulus 12K weave and geometrically engineered for further strength. The frame geometry is forward aggressive with tubes that are designed to optimize the highest stiffness to aero-ratio, keeping in mind that stiffness results in more efficient energy transfer to the wheels at speed than simply narrowing the aerodynamic profile.|
|The principle feature of the Storm TT (1200 gram) frame is the ultra strong 12K weaved high modulus carbon composite. This allows us to strategically thin out the tube walls to save weight while reinforcing the frame where needed to make it stiff and solid. The Storm TT is optimized for best ratio of weight-to-stiffness. The advanced layering of the carbon weave is the key to making the frame so light, yet safe and stiff. We use an exclusive combination of directional layering, wall thicknesses and even grades of modulus stiffness. High modulus carbon composites are very expensive which is why only a select few manufacturers utilize this process.|
Extreme aero frames lose stiffness due to lack of geometric integrity. The Storm TT utilizes a very short head tube which allows for a compact, stiff and light frame geometry. This results in quick acceleration and responsiveness. The rear-fairing and the down tube are aerodynamically optimized. The seat-stays and chain-stays are configured for a comfortable ride, yet the TT is superbly strong. An oversized bottom bracket channels all the energy from the cranks to the wheel.
When creating GRAY's Storm TT, the concept was to build the lightest and stiffest time trial frame on the market. The GRAY team worked with the most advanced factory in Taiwan - which produces most of the other high end performance brand frames. Team members worked with engineers who are former employees of the factory and who have specific knowledge and experience from watching other brand's successes and failures. With all of the combined engineering and conceptual design, as well as the development of high modulus carbon in 12K weave, the GRAY TT Storm was born.
The main feature of the 1220gram GRAY Storm TT frame is the use of high modulus carbon composite 12K weaves, which are ultra strong - allowing for thinner tube walls, where geometrically safe, while adding more material where it is needed to make create a stiff and solid frame. The Storm TT design is optimized for the best weight-to-stiffness ratio. The advanced layup of the carbon weave is what makes the frame so light, yet safe and stiff. We use variations in directional layup, wall thicknesses as well as variations in modulus stiffness. The high modulus carbon composites are not proprietary, but they are very expensive, which is why very few brands use them.
The geometry of the frame is forward aggressive with tubes that are designed to optimize the highest stiffness to aero-ratio. The tubes are aerodynamically shaped, but not to the extent of losing integrity. This ratio is based on the fact that stiffness and energy transfer is of greater effect on speed than slight aerodynamic compromises. All extreme aero frames lose stiffness due to lack of geometric integrity. The Storm TT frame utilizes a very short head tube, which allows for a compact, stiff and light frame geometry. This translates into quick acceleration and a very responsive frame. The seat-stays and chain-stays make for a very comfortable ride, yet the shape of all of the tubes themselves, makes them very strong. The over-sized bottom bracket ensures that all of the energy from the cranks are transferred directly into acceleration. With the GRAY Storm TT no power is lost.
The fork on the Storm TT frame set is a full carbon, aerodynamic design with enhanced strength. We only make the strongest high performance forks that are still extremely light weight.
